Described as a ‘musical and visual journey through 12 songs inspired by the life and message of Jesus Christ’, the Millennium Chorus is not only a musical recording but also a video and TV broadcast. Following its first showing at the beginning of the year 2000, it has since been broadcast across the USA and beamed by satellite to many other countries.
All 12 songs were written by Graham and the music recorded and produced by Greg Nelson in Nashville, USA. Celebrating the true meaning of the new Millennium, the Millennium Chorus borrows influences from pop to Celtic, soul/gospel to musical theatre, world music to choral epic. With performances by Phantom of the Opera star Michael Crawford, Michael W Smith and Grammy Award winners Máire Brennan and Bob Carlisle, this project is unlike any other Kendrick album to date.
It is not the regular praise and worship album that you might expect from the writer of ‘The Servant King’, though four or five of the songs are top-class praise and worship material. Commenting on this Graham said, “It was great to get back to my roots and write ‘artist’ songs, which is where I began, and a privilege to have world renowned performers, top musicians, orchestrators and studios made available, not to mention the video and TV dimensions. It’s been a dream and a prayer for me for a long time to see something tell the greatest story of all in a spirit of worship, reaching out, via the medium of TV and video, to a world hungry for hope”.
Royalties from every album sold throughout the world generates financial support for the charities to which each song has been dedicated.
