No-One Ever Told Me

And now the afternoon is almost gone
I’ve been sitting wondering here for too long
All my life I’ve waited for an aim
Like waiting for a friend that never came

I’ve been analysed
they told me what is wrong
I’ve been named and numbered trained and
had some fun
I’ve been criticised
and told that I’m too young
I’ve been told to speak and told to hold my tongue
Been inoculated educated
tested tried I almost made it
But no-one ever told me why I am

My scientific friends are very fine
They can tell me how – can’t tell me why
My revolutionary friends all think they’re right
But I can see no answer in a fight

I’ve been analysed
they told me what is wrong
I’ve been named and numbered trained and
had some fun
I’ve been criticised
and told that I’m too young
I’ve been told to speak and told to hold my tongue
Been inoculated educated
tested tried I almost made it
But no-one ever told me why I am

And now the afternoon is almost gone
I’ve been sitting wondering here for too long
Think I’ll make some coffee watch tv
If God is there I hope he pities me
