Sometimes the simplest songs carry the greatest impact.
Early in the pandemic, Graham spoke with someone running a local food bank and heard how demand had skyrocketed. Charities were stretched thin, funds were running low, and the need felt overwhelming. He gave what he could but also wondered, what more could be done?
That’s when a scrap of an old, unfinished song came back to mind. Just a simple line:
A little bit of love goes a long, long way.
The more Graham sang it around the house (to the bemusement of his wife!), the more it seemed the right message for the moment. A song anyone could sing, people of faith and people of no faith, because everyone understands the power of kindness.
A Zoom call with a friend who works with choirs provided the breakthrough. Graham sang him the idea, and immediately his friend arranged it in a joyful barbershop style and made it available online for choirs to sing and use in fundraising.
And it worked. Choirs sang, people gave, and in the midst of a dark season, the song spread a little light.
Because it’s true: a little bit of love really does go a long, long way.
